Challenge

The initial request was a single procedural animation for investor presentations and sales training. As development progressed, it became clear the team needed a flexible visualization system—one that could evolve alongside the product without requiring full rebuilds.

The initial request was a single procedural animation for investor presentations and sales training. However, the device’s development required a flexible system—one that could accommodate iteration without triggering full rebuilds.

The challenge was to create medically accurate, high-fidelity visuals while building a scalable foundation that could support the product throughout its development.

Visualization Strategy & System Design

I developed a modular 3D asset pipeline, building anatomically accurate GI models and device components structured for iterative updates. This approach allowed procedural variations without rebuilding core anatomy or animation systems.

In addition to procedural animation, I translated complex engineering CAD files into animation-ready, marketing-grade 3D assets. Models were rebuilt and optimized to balance mechanical accuracy with visual clarity, and structured for reuse across animation, print, digital, and trade show applications.

Working closely with clinical and product teams, I designed storyboards and scene architecture to clearly communicate each surgical step while maintaining consistency across future animations.

What began as a single deliverable expanded into a five-part procedural series. Because the system was built for adaptability, new animations were produced efficiently—reusing assets, preserving visual continuity, and accelerating timelines.

A supporting motion graphics system—including branded intros, transitions, and callouts—created a consistent visual language across the expanding animation library.

Impact

The animation series became a central communication tool for GI Windows Surgical, supporting investor presentations, sales training, and regulatory discussions.

During the engagement period, the company received FDA approval. The animations helped stakeholders understand the surgical approach and device function throughout the product's development and regulatory process.

By translating a complex, evolving innovation into clear procedural visuals, the work improved alignment across clinical, investor, and regulatory audiences.
